Description Of Insomnia

Most people know about a condition called insomnia and often know a person that has suffered from the disorder.   Only a few of these people understand how the condition affects the body and the complications that can occur to people that are suffering from the condition.  Insomnia is not just restlessness or having trouble sleeping at night, but is a serious health issue that can cause numerous problems if not treated in an effective manner.  Insomnia can affect a number of different areas of a person’s health and if the person delays treatment for too long, they may need to be hospitalized to regain their health.

What Is Insomnia?

Insomnia is a serious sleeping disorder characterized by a having a hard time getting to sleep and an inability to stay asleep throughout the night.A person can have insomnia if he has sleeplessness for an extended time period under typical, non-disruptive situations. The person cannot get sleep according to their need inspite of feeling sleepy.  Insomnia can be the result of physical or mental causes and is often treated by using several different types of treatment methods.

What Are The Causes?

Many cases of insomnia are due to an event that has altered the person’s current lifestyle or has added additional stress to the person’s life. Many times, the person will find relief from the condition as their stress levels decrease and their anxiety disappears. The events that trigger insomnia can be different for each person, but the way that the condition affects the body will remain the same for every case.

There are several other things that have been pinpointed as major causes of cases of insomnia as well.  These include a hormonal imbalance in the body, mental conditions like depression or anxiety disorders, and medications such as stimulants and amphetamines.  Insomnia can also be caused by repeated disruptions in the middle of the night, such as a baby crying, loud traffic or trains passing by the home, disturbing nightmares, and getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

All about the treatment of insomnia?

If a person is looking for an insomnia cure, the cause of the condition must first be pinpointed and fixed or the treatment will not be effective.  If the condition is caused by a prescription that the person is taking, they may need to switch to a different prescription.  If the cause of insomnia is stress, then the person may need to change their lifestyle or eliminate the cause of the stress before being prescribed medications such as anti-depressants or sedatives.  There are many different medical, physical, and herbal treatments that can be used to treat the condition and the one that is chosen will depend on a person’s particular case.

Solutions For Emotional Health Problems

At times people start becoming anxious about their future or even about their present situation. This can in certain cases even lead on to panic attacks.

In my opinion worrying does not help the situation, it only makes things worse. Well it certainly made things worse when I had a stutter – the more I worried, the worse the the stuttering became. I was desperate to find a way that could help me to stop stuttering as I knew this would help me to gain in confidence and have a better quality of life.

Insomnia

Having trouble with sleeping at night can happen for a number of reasons, the main one of which is stress. Other causes are snoring, an intake of too much caffeine, a noisy environment or depression.

Irritability

When people lose sleep or work to hard they can become over tired and this can lead to irritability. This can cause people to have a higher pulse rate, making their muscles feel tight and can leave people also feeling anxious and lethargic.

It is important to therefore ensure that you obtain a good amount of hours sleep per night (at least seven)and that you only work a certain amount of hours per week. Money is important to people, however in my opinion health should be the priority. I found myself working too hard at one stage for a company which sold composite front doors; this soon started to affect my sleep before I finally realised the mistake that I was making.

Solutions to these emotional health problems

I have come to realise that I need to treat myself from time to time. I was once described by a good friend as a “stress head” and this certainly would have been a good way to sum me up back then.

I now use various methods at different times of the year to help me to chill out a bit and to reward my body. These include aromatherapy, using herbal products, attending tai chi lessons and I have even tried Yoga. I must admit I could never get to grips with Yoga, however have heard it can prove to be very beneficial to people who can.

I am now a far more content, happier person and as a career now work in the jobs in foster care industry. I am sure that other people can also become more self-fulfilled with the help of alternative therapies and additional sleep.
